Why I chose to take ThePowerMBA

COVID-19 is being called the “great accelerator” as the virus is accelerating and bringing to light trends which were already happening. On a personal level this virus has given me time to reflect and think about what is important. For me personally, building an agency, and being a part of the global (Israeli) tech community has given my professional life significant meaning. As has personal growth; you know you need to keep learning and improving yourself if you want to be a successful entrepreneur. Though I am an active reader and work with a business coach, during COVID-19 I started to explore different structured ways to help me reach my goals through education.

Over the past few weeks I spent more time then I would like to admit on Instagram and couldn’t help but notice that ads for ThePowerMBA kept popping up. Usually I just ignore adds, but theirs were different and I was intrigued. I believe in the concept of “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear”, and there they were, all the “teachers” aka seasoned entrepreneurs/ instructors right on my feed. I trusted my gut and knew that this was the program I wanted to take, and now was the time.

Today’s MBA

The question of whether someone who runs their own business should take an MBA has been a big ‘if’ for some time. Traditionally, students who got an MBA used them to either get a better job or to enter a new field by pressing the education ‘reset’ button. There is the heavy price tag as well as time when taking an MBA, and the effectiveness of a traditional MBA’s relevance is being questioned these days even more so during the “great acceleration.” For me, ThePowerMBA offers an answer as they have been able to take the best of global MBA programs and create a digital format that people from all over the globe can benefit from.

My busy schedule running an agency, my active part of the ecosystem, an uncertain future during a pandemic, and being on the razor’s edge of tech are why I am choosing to enroll in ThePowerMBA. I’m excited by the program’s use of technology, their young and open mindset, and that they understand the importance of building community around their program. As so many of us need community these days as we’re in isolation, I’m excited to go on this journey and connect with students from literally all over the globe.

Learning everyday

As a self-proclaimed self-development nerd, the idea of doing a daily practice, an act consistently is appealing, and the system that ThePowerMBA created works with my schedule. Which is why I like the idea of the 15 minutes a day lessons. Or as Aristotle stated “we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act, but a habit.”

It’s also about being relevant, and no one right now can seriously consider having students physically sit in a classroom. But a digital platform offers the opportunity for teachers from anywhere to share their knowledge. For that reason, the curriculum is appealing to me, as it’s being taught by people who have been in the trenches and built category-changing companies. Finding good mentors and teachers can take years, so the impressive roaster of teachers who are part of the program guarantees I’ll be learning from the best.

Education, learning, and self-development are a life-long journey. It’s a cliched statement because it’s true. This has been a part of the human experience since the earliest civilizations, as has the idea of formalized education. What has changed is the pace of life we are experiencing as well as the mediums in which we consume information. Taking part as a student in how education is unfolding is important to me. It’s for that reason and the reasons I stated above; relevance, effectiveness, and expertise that I am looking forward to participating in ThePowerMBA.
